I have had an unconventional working career. For a very long time, I did not think I was even having a career. It seems more like a series of jobs. But a few years ago, I began to see that there were some common threads in the work that I had done. These common threads could be summed up this way. For the past thirty years, while playing a variety of roles, I have been facilitating learning and decision-making in workplace settings. Nearly all of my formal education has had something to do with the processes of gathering, organizing, and presenting information in ways that promote learning, comprehension, and decision making. I have done this work with individuals and organizations. These days I am beginning an "encore career" as a Career Development Practitioner. I have recently completing my training in this field through Conestoga College. My goal is to work with individuals and groups who are looking to make mid-career and encore career transitions. But even as a counsellor, I believe my role will be to facilitate learning and decision-making related to my client's work-related goals. |
