Some of My Interests and Experiences

August 2011

Beth and I in front of our home days after the August 21 tornado. Behind us is the one walnut tree that survived the tornado. Today that tree is healthy and a producer of many walnuts every fall.

August 2011

Two days after our house was wrecked by the tornado, a group of friends, family, and complete strangers, showed up at our house, eager to help. This is what Goderich such a great place to live.

February 2014

After four years on the Board of the Goderich Little Theatre, I was pleased to be part of the production team that put on Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun.

December 2014

Throughout the fall of 2014, I worked with other members of the Maitland Trail Association to produce the third edition of the Maitland Trail Guide. I was also part of the group that produced the second edition in 2007.

May 2015

Con Melady and I were out in support of Active Transportation during the Ride Around the Square. This event was part of the Jane's Walk events held in Goderich that year.

September 2018

I first donated blood when I was in high school. Here I am, 60 years later, making my 100th donation.

November 2022

I was honoured to be elected to Goderich Town Council in 2022. My wife Beth joined me in Council chambers for the Inauguration Meeting.

August 2023

Beth and I are animal lovers. We have cat and a dog. We also like to care for our friend's animals. Here I am with August who came to stay with us for a week while his human companions were travelling.

October 2023

Since being elected to Goderich Town Council, I have made it a habit to visit the Town Hall of each municipality Beth and I stay in when we are travelling. Here I am with Mayor Mark Sager of West Vancouver, Bc, and my brother-in-law Bob, a former West Vancouver Councillor.

September 2025

On our trip to Newfoundland last year, I paid a visit to the St. John's City Hall. Unfortunately, Council was in session that morning, so I wasn't able to meet any Council members.

July 2026

I have enjoyed being part of Goderich's Canada Day Parade during my time on Council. Here I am with Councillor Petrie waving to a friend.

August 2026

Every year since I moved to Goderich in 2003, I have been a volunteer member of the Celtic Festival site setup crew. In addition to finding the work and camaraderie rewarding, I have been happy to receive a Celtic Festival T-shirt as a thank you gift. This year was no exception.
